Primary Purpose of the Role
A key member of the Maintenance team, the post holder will ensure the smooth operation of the warehouse in a safe and effective manner in addition to following the health and safety advice and guidance as instructed. The Site Maintenance Manager will implement management instruction regarding all aspects of the role and ensure that awareness of Health and Safety matters and risk assessments associated with the role are completed and updated accordingly. The post holder will follow working procedures and safe systems of work to carry out repairs, breakdowns, and planned preventative maintenance, reporting any equipment fault or malfunction that cannot be fixed.
Key Accountabilities
1. Agree with the Engineering Manager performance standards for the job role and prepare working procedures and Safe Systems of Work, where appropriate.
2. Prioritise repairs, breakdowns, and planned preventative maintenance and coordinate the maintenance team's daily/weekly activities.
3. Report to Engineering Manager any equipment fault or malfunction that cannot be dealt with by yourself.
4. Carry out sprinkler system inspections and operational checks.
5. Undertake other maintenance duties as directed.
6. Ensure maintenance-only areas within the warehouse and other plant and equipment remain clean and ensure the maintenance stores and workshop areas are kept clean and tidy.
7. Take delivery of maintenance spares and equipment as required, locating them in stores or maintenance workshop.
8. Maintain all materials handling equipment and ensure an efficient operation of the Building Management System.
9. Ensure a flexible and common-sense approach to Health and Safety, notifying Team Managers and/or other staff members of any type of hazard which can be dealt with by the post holder; ensure the safety of others working within the areas of the warehouse.
10. Ensure full understanding of the objectives contained in the Next Safety Document.
11. Assist in the completion and review of risk assessments for the department.
12. Undertake regular health & safety inspections with the ASM/DSM.
13. Undertake accident investigations when necessary with assistance from H&S Advisors and implement appropriate preventative action.
14. Deal with any enquiries relating to possible failures in equipment and relay these to the necessary department.
15. Adhere to all company policies and procedures in place ensuring standards are maintained at all times.
Qualifications
1. Apprentice trained craft certificate.
2. Experience of working within a similar role.
3. A proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
4. Experience with warehouse sprinkler systems.
5. Experience of PLCs.
6. GCSE or equivalent in English & Maths.
7. Experience of working within a high-pressured environment.
