The role of a Senior Mental Health Practitioner/Supervisor (SMHP) within the MHST is varied, with some key parts to the role:
You will be expected to hold a small clinical case load of Children and Young People with low to moderate Mental Health concerns. You will be working within the Early Interventions Service model within CAMHS, providing up to 10 sessions to CYP.
You will be providing clinical supervision to the Education Mental Health Trainees/Practitioners (EMHPs) in line with the university training on supervising. Attendance and successful completion of the CYP - IAPT supervisory course is part of the expected job description and delivery of this role.
You will be offering consultation and advice to schools working with MHST. You will be responsible for being a key link between the education setting and MHST. This will include offering signposting to other services and providing up-to-date resources and guidance.
The post holder will be expected to develop close working relationships with key partner agencies in their locality, including GP practices, schools, public health, and social care professionals.
Main Duties of the Job
You will be a member of the Mental Health Support Team and have responsibility for assessment, treatment, and evaluation of care provided to some clients referred to the team. You will provide education, advice, and practical support to young people and their families as well as brief therapeutic interventions.
Working with colleagues within and outside the Trust, you will ensure appropriate access to Emotional Health and Wellbeing Services is facilitated for vulnerable groups including Looked After Children.
To support the MHST Clinical Lead in the delivery of service, ensuring it meets national guidance and local key performance indicators.
Provide regular case management supervision and clinical skills training to assigned Education Mental Health Practitioners.
