Job Title: Industrial Placement Naval Ships Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Scotstoun (Glasgow)

BAE Systems do offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however it is expected on our Industrial Placement programme you will be required to attend your site 4 days per week. Please note, this may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business. The hybrid working arrangements including which days you are required to work on site/remotely will be outlined by your line manager.
Salary: £23,100
We design and build a full range of naval ships from offshore patrol vessels through to giant aircraft carriers, giving customers the capability to fulfil extensive naval operations around the world. What you will be doing:
The purpose of Manufacturing Engineering is to develop, implement and govern capable methods of manufacture, assembly, disassembly and repair (including method of verification) which can meet customer and business requirements for Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring compliance to design intent. As a Manufacturing Engineer you will contribute and be accountable for delivering Manufacturing Engineering outputs into Operations that ensure design intent can be met. The role holder will be competent and capable in the tasks they perform.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Influence the design to ensure it is in line with current & evolving manufacturing capability.
• Develop the manufacturing capability and technology (including IT) to ensure the design requirement can be met.
• Translate the Engineering Design intent (Drawings, standards etc.) into Manufacturing Engineering data for use in Operations.
• Ensure that Manufacturing Engineering output meets all the relevant Safety and Quality requirements.
• Generate and progress Manufacturing Engineering output in-line with Project / Programme requirements.
• Define and execute emergent work affecting manufacture, fabrication or construction.
• Analysis and presentation of manufacturing data to ensure that the process improvement or investment decisions are made based on data.
Skills:
As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Production Engineering Management, Product Design Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. To be considered for this role you must be returning to university to complete your degree.
