Realise your potential As part of our Quality Regulation and Enforcement Team, the Trade Effluent Specialist will play a key role in leading trade effluent (TE) regulation across our service area. You will enable environmental and social prosperity across our region by driving new TE initiatives and performance. You will also provide guidance and technical support to various teams on trade effluent regulation. In this leadership role, you will shape and implement new methods, policies and standards in line with UK law, working closely with government agencies such as Ofwat and the Environment Agency. You will collaborate with the wider Anglian Water environmental team and other water companies to ensure compliance with the Water Industry Act, Urban Wastewater Treatment Regulations, and Environmental Permitting Regulation. Reporting to the Head of Quality Regulation and Enforcement, you will also contribute to the ongoing improvement of trade effluent regulation, build trusted relationships with regulators, and enable Anglian Water to maintain it’s leading position in this field. What you’ll be doing: - Represent the business in external stakeholder meetings, drive future plans and discuss technical matters regarding Trade Effluent (TE). - Provide tactical and strategic guidance and support to the EA, Scientific, Laboratory, Wholesale Service Centre, Water, Water Recycling and Asset Planning Teams - Communicate regulatory and company policies and standards throughout the organisation, ensuring clarity and alignment. - Lead environmental TE projects, overseeing timelines and deliverables to ensure successful delivery. - Maintain and improve the Quality Management System for Trade Effluent, and ensure regulatory data accuracy and reporting assurance to build regulator and operational trust - Support with training and technical expertise support for the TE Scientists and TE Samplers. -Ensure that service level agreements, levels of service and deadlines are met to avoid risk of appeal and fines from regulators - Lead the response to Environmental Permitting Regulation Consultations and Trade Effluent related Environmental Information Requests What does it take to be successful? - Education to degree level or equivalent – Chemistry is not essential but desirable - Chartered and / or a Member of a Professional Body is not essential but desirable - Demonstratable understanding of the water industry systems such as sewerage networks, wastewater treatment and trade effluent - Understanding of Environmental Permitting Regulations, Water Industry Act, Urban Wastewater Treatment Regulations and how they relate to the Management of Trade Effluent -The ability to be an effective regulator, understand the law and having strong negotiation skills - Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate them to a non-legal audience - Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities - Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build relationships with different types of internal and external customers Inclusion at Anglian Water: Inclusion is for everyone, and we are an equal opportunity employer, which means we will consider all suitably qualified applicants regardless of gender identity or expression, ethnic origin, nationality, religion or beliefs, age, sexual orientation, disability status or any other protected characteristic.
