What the Job Involves As the Assistant Director of Finance at the London Borough of Barnet, you support the Executive Director of Strategy & Resources to ensure high-quality financial administration and stewardship. You will contribute to developing the vision and values for the borough, deliver sound financial management, and manage a team of approximately 40 staff. You will lead the development and implementation of the Council's financial strategy, ensuring sustainability and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will oversee a service budget of approximately £5m and indirectly influence the Council's gross expenditure of £982m. Your role includes leading the budget setting process, ensuring effective audit and risk management functions, managing accountancy and treasury management services, and delivering the statement of accounts within required timescales. You will also liaise with stakeholders to identify issues impacting Council services, promote corporate values, and ensure the Council's commitment to equality. Additionally, you will support transformational change, develop strategic plans, respond to policy guidelines, and engage in partnership working to achieve shared objectives and synergies.
