Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 2 Health Care Assistant to join the Day Case Surgery unit. We provide pre and post-operative care to surgical patients across several specialties including Orthopaedic, ENT, Maxillo Facial, General Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, Plastic Surgery and Pain Management.
Your role will include assisting to admit patients using appropriate paperwork and supporting the patient in the post-operative period to facilitate a safe discharge. The post holder will also be expected to undertake any other duties as may be required to meet the needs of the service within the limitations of the grade for the post.
Responsibilities
* Completing paperwork with the patients on admission
* Taking patient observations and escalating to trained staff
* Carrying out various testing i.e. urinalysis, pregnancy testing, blood glucose monitoring
* Ensuring stock is kept to an acceptable level and ordering more supplies if required
* Ensuring patient property is safe and transferred to other areas if required
Qualifications
Essential criteria:
* NVQ Level 2 or above
Desirable criteria:
* NVQ level 3 or Care certificate
* Surgical ward experience
