Role Overview:
Lead the development of innovative stabilizer solutions for polyurethanes, ensuring high-quality research outcomes that support product commercialization and meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the polyurethane testing laboratory.
* Drive research and development of stabilizer packages for polyurethanes, with an initial focus on flexible slab stock foams.
* Support the production and commercialization of proprietary products.
* Generate application data for stabilization packages to address evolving customer needs and regulatory requirements in the flexible slab stock foams market.
* Expand R&D efforts to include other polyurethane applications, such as thermoplastic polyurethanes.
* Develop sustainable and eco-friendly chemistries that enhance customer value and sustainability initiatives.
* Engage with customers and represent the company at industry conferences.
* Gather market insights (VOC) and initiate new research projects aligned with industry needs.
* Promote proprietary solutions and collaborate with external consultants and internal teams to develop strategic market insights.
* Provide information to senior management to support the design of R&D innovation programs.
* Manage ACFC or DFX projects, ensuring full compliance with the Stage and Gate process.
* Conduct laboratory work while adhering to strict safety protocols, particularly when handling isocyanates.
Qualifications & Skills:
* MS/PhD in Synthetic Organic or Polymer Chemistry.
* At least 5 years of experience in formulation, foaming, and application testing of polyurethane foams.
* Practical expertise in PU formulation development, lab-scale foaming reactions, and foam testing.
* In-depth knowledge of functional additives for developing PU foams with desirable customer properties.
* Familiarity with phosphorus, sulphur, amine, and phenolic antioxidant chemistries.
* Strong ability to develop experimental protocols based on analytical and experimental data.
* Proficiency in experimental design for formulation development.
* Strong project management skills with a proactive approach to ensuring a safe work environment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency in MS Office, image processing software, and other relevant computer tools.
