About the role
Applications are invited for two Research Associate posts in Theoretical Physics in the Department of Mathematics at King's College London. The first post is a fixed-term post for 36 months. The second post is a fixed-term post for 24 months with potential extension for a third year, subject to funding.
Successful candidates will work on a combination of projects under grants held by P. Kravchuk, N. Gromov, and N. Drukker and the projects could incorporate other permanent members of the group.
Candidates should have the potential to carry out research which has high levels of originality, innovation and depth that may lead to significant impact on the field of theoretical physics, including aspects of quantum field theory and gravity.
These are full-time posts which are available as of 1st April 2025, with a starting date between 1st April 2025 and 1st September 2025. You will be offered a fixed-term contract for a 2-year or a 3-year period.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. PhD awarded in Theoretical Physics or relevant subject area.
2. Research experience in some area of Theoretical Physics.
3. High levels of originality in published papers on Theoretical Physics and in personal statements.
4. Underlying vision which motivates their research.
5. General knowledge of Theoretical Physics.
6. Good presentation and communication skills.
Desirable criteria
1. Experience of presenting research.
2. Evidence of research performed independently of the PhD supervisor.
