Overview
PepsiCo is looking for an R&D Engineer to join in one of our locations: Leicester, UK or Istanbul, Turkey.
Job Purpose
In this role, you will lead process deployment projects in the Europe Region for Foods Category initiatives covering risk assessment processes, make/buy design process mapping, capacity boost projects, and supporting Global initiatives under the PEP+ process agenda.
Responsibilities
1. Involve in new equipment & process risk assessment processes to scope their capability of producing target design and support buy/no buy decisions.
2. Lead development, testing, and qualification of process systems and equipment within internal and external resources, in support of category initiatives.
3. Lead scale-up tests at manufacturing locations, data collection/analysis, and timely communication of trip reports highlighting results and key next steps.
4. Work with and support Food Safety and Quality to ensure all components and process systems are capable of producing and sustaining safe and stable products.
5. Design and execute DOE to screen, model, verify, and ensure statistical capability and robustness of pilot and commercial processes.
6. Create and update a map of knowledge to capture equipment, processes, assets, and models at PepsiCo sites covering all Foods Category.
7. Proactively identify skill/capability and system gaps when encountered. Propose corrective actions including coaching, training courses, and new/modified processes.
8. Contribute to workstreams to improve ways of working across the team, e.g., improvement of business processes to drive greater efficiencies, sharing of knowledge to create better team cohesion, and developing others through coaching & embedding best practices.
Qualifications
Functional experience:
1. BSc., MSc., or PhD. in Chemical, Mechanical, or Food Engineering / Food Technologies with at least 5 years of process engineering/development/commercialization experience in Food & Beverage or Pharmaceutical. Other relevant backgrounds or experience will be considered.
2. In-depth analytical skills to interpret complex data and distill it into meaningful information, e.g., interpreting process data, experimental design, and statistical inference.
3. Demonstrated performance in developing and commercializing new processes/products/equipment in collaboration with Customer Technical Services (CTS), Quality, Food Safety, Supply Chain, Marketing, suppliers, 3PM, etc.
4. Demonstrated ability to function effectively in stressful, fast-paced situations, with the personal leadership to influence and positively motivate self and peers.
5. Experience working within Technical Stage Gate process framework preferred.
6. Ability to travel within Europe and internationally estimated 25-30%.
