Occupational Therapist - Community Learning Disabilities
Eden Brown Synergy have an exciting opportunity available for a locum to take on a new role within Adult Social Care in Manchester. The vacancy is for an Occupational Therapist to work with adults with learning disabilities and autism in the social services setting.
We are looking for a HCPC registered Occupational Therapist who has experience in learning disabilities (LD) and also with good moving and handling experience.
The Occupational Therapist (OT) will be assessing the level of care provided to LD citizens in supported living, or those who will be moving into supported living. The OT will need to have a good understanding of managing challenging behaviours including sensory and environmental interventions, moving and handling techniques, equipment/adaptations, and assistive technology to enhance the citizens' independence, and optimise the level of care received. The OT will provide assessment to support citizens to move in or out of supported living depending on the complexity of their needs, and suitability of accommodation.
Requirements:
1. Must have well developed knowledge of LD, autism and managing challenging behaviours.
2. Must have experience of moving and handling including undertaking risk assessments, and providing training to carers. Experience in single handed care is desirable.
3. City wide role so car driver is essential.
4. Must have an Occupational Therapy degree and be HCPC registered.
