Job Description Veterinary Surgeon – 35/40 hours a week Looking for a fulfilling role within a supportive and vibrant practice? We’re expanding and excited to welcome a new vet to our team With an established client base, a warm community feel, and a strong focus on high-quality, personalised care, our practice offers a dynamic and rewarding work environment. About the Area: Nestled between lively cities, with the coast and countryside just a stone's throw away, our location offers the best of both worlds. There are plenty of local businesses to explore, with everything from fantastic eateries to beautiful trails for the outdoorsy types. Transport links are excellent, with quick access to the motorway and train stations nearby, making commuting a breeze. Meet the Team: Since opening in 2016, our practice has grown from strength to strength, with a close-knit, collaborative team at its heart. Here’s who you’ll be working alongside: Our Vets: Our vet team includes three seasoned vets with a shared passion for general practice and community care. We’re looking for a fourth vet to help us continue providing exceptional care. Our Nurses: With a team of dedicated RVNs, student nurses, and care assistants, our nursing team is the heart and soul of the practice. Their hard work has earned us both ISFM Silver Cat Friendly and RWAF Silver Rabbit Friendly practice awards. Most of our nurses are trained in Schedule 3 procedures, and their work in our nursing clinics is highly valued by clients. Front of House: Our reception team is warm, welcoming, and highly knowledgeable, ready to provide an engaging client experience. They’re skilled at managing patient triage and scheduling, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Our Clients: We believe in building lasting bonds with our clients. Many have been with us since we opened, and we love seeing their families (both furry and human) grow. We work with each owner to create a care plan that meets their pet’s needs and their circumstances, with finance options and support from local charities available when needed. Our Practice: Our culture is rooted in continuous improvement. We’re always open to new ideas, whether it's adjusting shift patterns, trialling new equipment, or implementing innovative diary layouts. Our goal is to create a practice we’re proud of, one that serves our team, our clients, and our community’s pets. The Role: Hours: 35-40 per week, either across three or four weekdays Shifts: 8:30am-7:30pm weekdays, with 1 in 4 weekends (Saturdays 9:00am-4:00pm, Sundays 10:00am-4:00pm) Duties: Balanced mix of surgery and consults, including at least one dedicated surgery day per week Consults: Start at 9:00 am with 20-minute slots, catch-up breaks throughout, and dedicated slots for same-day or urgent cases – no double-booking Support: Nurse-led triage for emergencies, no OOH Structure: Breaks include 15 minutes in the morning, 30 minutes for lunch, and a 15-minute afternoon break, with shifts finishing on time thanks to blocked-off slots at the end of the day The Perks: Salary: £36-65k, dependent on experience Holiday: 33 days CPD: £1,600 allowance (additional certificate funding considered) Benefits: Overtime pay, income protection (after one year), AXA private healthcare with a small contribution, RCVS/BVA/VDS fees covered, and 20% discount. Team Time: We also host vet dinners every few months, offering a relaxed space to discuss cases, ideas, and new developments over a pub meal If you're passionate about veterinary care, love being part of a team, and are looking for a role where you’ll be valued, we’d love to hear from you
