Could you be the full-time Technical Author to join our team in Old Oak Common and be a key member in producing Alstom UK’s maintenance manuals?
Your future role
Take on a new challenge in Old Oak Common and apply your Technical Authoring expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to the Technical Authoring Team Leader and work alongside a dedicated and passionate Services team in Alstom UK&I.
Day-to-day, you’ll assist with the producing clear and concise technical documentation in the form of specifications, test procedures, maintenance and safety instructions.
We’ll look to you to perform the following:
* Liaising with relevant train operating companies, engineers, maintenance development engineers, traincare staff and parts department to gather the information and data required for your technical documents.
* To ensure all Work Instructions, Risk assessments, and, Maintenance and Safety Bulletins are produced to the relevant standard in a timely manner.
* To produce and update MS Word templates for Work Instructions, Check Lists, Maintenance and Safety Bulletins and Risk Assessments.
* Arranging and carrying out validation of tasks

To add value to this role you will need to be technically astute with an engineering / maintenance, vehicle, mechanical, electrical background and have the ability to translate modification documents and engineering drawings. You’ll need to be good at building relationships, available to commit to some travel around the UK and have outstanding PC skills.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The successful candidate must have the following skills, qualifications and experience:
* HNC in an engineering discipline or above or relevant experience
* Ability to produce clear technical documentation
* Ability to manipulate images using Adobe Photoshop.
* Proficient in the use of MS Word and MS Excel.
* Ability to communicate clearly and co-ordinate with different people at various levels within the organisation.
* The ability to write anrd edit html/php and .xml code.
