We are seeking a Media Relations and Content Manager to join our dynamic team. This role will be pivotal in shaping and executing Pogust Goodhead’s external communications strategy, building relationships with key media outlets, and creating compelling content that resonates with stakeholders and the public.
Media Relations
* Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and key media outlets across print, broadcast, and digital platforms.
* Act as the primary point of contact for media inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
* Proactively pitch stories, press releases, and expert commentary to secure positive media coverage.
* Monitor media coverage and public sentiment, providing regular reports and insights to the Directors of Corporate Affairs.
* Prepare Pogust Goodhead spokespeople for media interviews, including drafting briefing materials and conducting mock interviews.
Content Creation and Management
* Develop and execute a content strategy aligned with Pogust Goodhead’s mission and goals.
* Write, edit, and distribute high-quality content, including press releases, op-eds, blog posts, and social media updates.
* Collaborate with internal teams to ensure content is accurate, consistent, and aligned with legal and advocacy strategies.
* Manage the firm’s social media channels, creating engaging content and monitoring interactions to build a strong online presence.
* Oversee the production of multimedia content, such as videos, infographics, and podcasts, to support communications efforts.
* Work closely with the Advocacy and Grassroots Coordinator to develop and implement communications plans for advocacy campaigns.
* Create campaign materials, such as petitions, email newsletters, and website content, to mobilise public support.
* Support the organisation of events, such as press conferences, webinars, and town halls, to amplify Pogust Goodhead’s message.
Crisis Communications
* Assist the Directors of Corporate Affairs in developing and implementing crisis communications plans.
* Draft statements, Q&A documents, and holding responses to address sensitive issues or negative publicity.
* Monitor media and social media during crises, providing real-time updates and recommendations to senior leadership.
Internal Collaboration and Reporting
* Collaborate with legal, corporate affairs, and advocacy teams to ensure alignment across all communications activities.
* Provide regular updates and reports on media coverage, campaign performance, and content metrics.
* Support the Directors of Corporate Affairs in developing long-term communications strategies.
Requirements
* Proven experience in media relations, journalism, or communications, ideally within a legal, advocacy, or corporate affairs environment
* Strong existing relationships with journalists and media outlets.
* Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex legal and policy issues into clear, compelling content.
* Experience managing social media channels and creating multimedia content.
* Knowledge of media monitoring tools and analytics platforms.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* A proactive, solutions-oriented approach, with the ability to think strategically and act tactically.
* Experience in crisis communications or reputation management.
* Familiarity with advocacy campaigns and grassroots mobilization.
* Knowledge of the legal and regulatory landscape, particularly in environmental, social, or consumer rights issues.
* Experience working with senior leaders and acting as a trusted advisor.
