My Southwest based client is looking for a Portfolio Manager to join the team on a permanent basis.
The Portfolio Manager will have the overall responsibility for the leadership of the Project and Delivery Managers within the organisations IT Delivery Function.
This role is not focused on the individual Project Delivery, but ensuring that the governance standards, quality and best practice within the Portfolio is being upheld by the Project and Delivery Managers at all times.
The Portfolio Manager will work to prioritise incoming requirements from the business through to the Portfolio Roadmap, working closely with the Portfolio Management Office.
The Portfolio Manager will have oversight and responsibility for all budget and finances associated to around 30 Projects that sit within the Portfolio.
They will have excellent Stakeholder Management and Engagement capability and represent the Projects at senior level, communicating any high-level risks and dependencies.
They will also be final point of escalation for any issues relating to Third Parties, handling any escalations from the Project and Delivery Managers.
The role will require weekly onsite presence at the client's office based in Portsmouth.
Skills and Experience
* Experience of people management and leadership with Portfolio, Programme, Project, PMO environments
* Experience of providing passionate, transparent, and accountable leadership
* Experience of working with IT / Technology Projects
* Experience of managing strategic stakeholder relationships
* Experience of prioritising incoming requirements from the business in line with strategic objectives
* Experience of maturing Project Management processes across organisations
* Experience of managing and have responsibility for all project finances within IT Portfolios including forecasting, accruals, and actuals - working with Finance and Procurement teams
* Experience of managing Third Parties effectively and being the final point of escalation for management of high-level risks
* Experience of senior stakeholder management and engagement
* Experience of working with Project and Delivery managers to ensure that governance standards, quality documentation and best practice is always adhered to - coaching and mentoring where necessary
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
