Financial Accountant – Fixed Term Contract - 6 months Location: Northampton, Hybrid (UK), with travel to UK Head Office Maternity cover – 6 months fixed contract; Full time; Start date asap Salary: £25k-£30k per annum The Role As a Financial Accountant you will be responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of financial accounting as part of the monthly, quarterly and annual close. You will be responsible for all areas related to fixed assets accounting and reporting across the UK Group under both UK and US GAAP. You will look after VAT reporting and VAT returns submission. You will also be assisting with a wide variety of other finance projects including audit and tax. What you will be doing Responsible for the accurate accounting of fixed and intangible assets under US and UK GAAP including correct classification, disposals and impairments Perform SOX controls related to fixed and intangible assets under US GAAP Owner of BS reconciliations performed on a monthly and quarterly basis related to fixed assets and some other GLs on the Balance sheet Acts as a business partner for other teams across Bright Horizons such as Legal and Property on queries and projects related to the BH fixed assets and property portfolio Preparation and review of schedules required by auditors and tax advisers, and for inclusion on the stats and active involvement in the audit and tax reporting cycles Preparation and e-filing of the quarterly VAT return Additionally, this role will include project work such as: accounting for acquisitions, group restructure and others Identify and implement process improvements to the above tasks to ensure these are being done in the most efficient manner and risks are mitigated What we are looking for Experience in fixed assets accounting under both UK GAAP and US GAAP/ IFRS Confident in double entry bookkeeping and in delivering accurate and timely month- and quarter-end reporting Qualified accountant (AAT as a minimum or studying towards ACCA, CIMA, ACA) Understanding of SOX controls and requirements Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Bright Horizons are committed to creating inclusive environments where everyone has a sense of belonging and has the opportunity to contribute and thrive in meaningful and impactful ways.
