Support Worker - £13.20p/h - Full Time 37.5hrs a week!
We are looking for proactive, engaging and caring people to join experienced colleagues across our homes for adults, with moderate learning disabilities, in Buxton and Melton Constable. Your entire shift will be based at one location however we require DRIVERS with UK/EU Manual Driving Licences with ACCESS TO A CAR for easy commute across locations.
Every day will be busy and rewarding, as you encourage and empower each person to maintain their independence, develop new skills and embrace new opportunities. The people you will be supporting live busy lives and all of them want to be out and about and making the most of each day.
The gentleman you will support, lives in a very large open plan bungalow with lots of windows and exits. He spends most of his time in his bedroom or pacing around the bungalow.
He uses many forms of communication, and builds unique relationships with the people who support him. He does not communicate with words and communicates mainly through objects of reference and gestures “leading by the hand”.
He enjoys being outdoors in the community, walking in the country and beaches, he also likes using the swings.
He has a very close family and enjoys seeing them regularly.
He is very tactile and loves high 5's or 10's, He also likes cheek to cheek which he does a lot with staff.
The ideal person to support him would have experience with behaviours of distress and will be required to support at another house in Melton Constable. It is essential that staff members have a UK driving licence, can drive manual cars and have a car of their own to be able to get to the houses.
The typical shifts are 07:00-22:00, 07:00-14:30, 14:30-22:00 and sleep in's (22:00-07:00) which are a requirement. The person supported is 2:1 at all times including two sleep in staff.
