Our client produces market-leading safety equipment for the rail industry. The core of the products used for depot safety is the hardware and software that is installed on customer sites. This role is part of the team working on maintaining and developing the current and future depot safety products that ensure continuous improvements to the products, providing the highest quality to all customers.
Software Engineer
Sheffield
Monday – Friday (Hybrid)

Key priorities:
1. Contribute to the full delivery and launch of a unique product range.
2. Own software development from design all the way through to launch.
3. Work collaboratively with the project engineering team to ensure products meet our customer needs.
4. Be willing to get stuck into complex problems to ensure constant quality of results.
The main responsibilities include:
1. Software design, coding, and testing for the company’s new products and improvement of the company’s existing products.
2. Maintaining and modifying products previously provided by the company including fault finding/diagnostics of the company’s products, including level 3 support.
3. Involvement in the commissioning of products provided by the company.
4. Production of product support documentation such as software architecture documentation, software specifications, test specifications, and test results, operating manuals.
5. Participation in code reviews.
Qualification requirements:
1. Preferably educated to degree level.
2. Minimum 2 years’ experience.
3. Strong C++ skills essential.
4. Git experience essential.
