Job introduction Social Work students: Are you about to finish your final placement? Brighton and Hove is committed to excellence in social work education and practice development. We offer regular reflective supervision, comprehensive continuing professional development, including your ASYE, the chance to train as a Practice Educator and/or an Approved Mental Health Practitioner, depending on your aspirations. We are recruiting to New Qualified Social Worker roles, with a chance to start your employment with us before you qualify, potentially as soon as you finish your placement About the role Brighton is a challenging and rewarding place to work. Our demographic is unique, and you’ll need to show that you have experience of working with diverse situations and multi-disciplinary contexts using relevant theory and legislation. We are looking for you to be able to articulate how you will work creatively to ensure that our customers live independent and fulfilled lives. Does that sound like you? We have opportunities in our Adult Social Care services including work with people living with physical health challenges, with mental health challenges, and those in hospitals. Here’s what NQSW’s say about working at BHCC: ‘I’ve found the BHCC ASYE programme to be an excellent start to my social work career. The cohort of NQSWs are an asset to the programme as it is comforting to have a group of people who are sharing the same experience.’ ‘I was surprised by the professional freedom I am given to practice how I want and I have been encouraged by everyone to try new things and be creative. Management have supported me and facilitated this.’ ‘I like how Brighton and Hove is a small local authority so you get to know colleagues in other teams but they are still forward thinking in many ways, particularly about practitioner research.’ Please read our Apply for a job at the council pages carefully. They give you all the guidance you need to complete your application as well as information on what will happen after you’ve submitted your application and at interview. As part of your application, you will need to upload your Application Form and answers to some shortlisting questions. Your answers to the shortlisting questions are the most important part of your application as it will be used in the shortlisting process to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role that are set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview. Before you start your application, please read our guidance here ( Application Form guidance (brighton-hove.gov.uk) and ( Shortlisting guidance (brighton-hove.gov.uk) as this gives important advice which will increase your chance of success in the shortlisting process.
