This pivotal role presents an opportunity for you to join our in-house legal team and contribute to the delivery of the large scale construction and commercial contracts. With a track record in drafting, negotiating, and reviewing construction contracts, your guidance will be invaluable at every stage of the process, from the initial tender phase to project completion.
As a qualified lawyer practicing in England and Wales, it is preferable that you’ve honed your skills within a reputable law firm or in-house setting. A background within the utilities or energy sector or understanding of regulated contracts would be advantageous.
You may be an experienced construction lawyer seeking a new opportunity, or recently qualified with around 3 years of experience looking to advance your career. Your excellent legal skills, along with your hands-on experience in construction and commercial law, especially in drafting and negotiating NEC contracts is essential.
Equally important is your ability to adopt a risk-based approach to create pragmatic solutions to challenges. You’ll engage daily with engineering, procurement, and project teams, offering sound legal advice and guidance that will help shape success.

What will be your key accountabilities?
5. To draft, review, negotiate and provide commercially minded legal advice on NEC, JCT contractual documents.
6. Daily interaction with the engineering, procurement, and project teams from pre-tender stage through to completion
7. Advise on adjudication process and be responsible for preparing the claim and liaising with third parties and external lawyers as required.
8. Advise the business on applicable law and regulations.
9. To support Head of Legal.
What will you bring to the role?
10. Qualified lawyer in England and Wales
11. Trained with a well-regarded law firm or in-house preferably with knowledge of the energy or utilities sector
12. Experience in drafting and negotiating various construction contracts such as NEC and JCT
13. Confident lawyer with practical construction and commercial law experience
14. Experienced working on complex projects with ability to multi-task, problem solve and balance competing priorities.
15. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
