Our client, a global leader in the manufacturing of soft contact lenses, is currently seeking a Production Engineer at their manufacturing site in Hamble. In this role, you will focus on continuous improvement and enhancing the efficiency of automated production systems within a fast-paced, high-output environment. You will lead projects that aim to optimise machine performance, increase yields, and ensure the overall success of our production processes. Responsibilities: Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on increasing productivity, yield, and quality. Identify opportunities for process optimisation and work with cross-functional teams to drive improvements across production systems. Conduct equipment and process validation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including those specific to medical devices. Collaborate with teams to solve complex technical issues and propose improvements that enhance system reliability and machine performance. Analyse operational data to identify trends and areas for improvement, initiating corrective actions where necessary. Manage projects focused on automation systems and production equipment, ensuring successful delivery and sustained performance. Apply Six Sigma and DMAIC methodologies to solve problems and enhance manufacturing processes. Conduct statistical process control activities and ensure ongoing testing and validation of process improvements. Requirements: Proven experience in process engineering, production engineering, or maintenance engineering in a manufacturing environment. Strong experience with continuous improvement, yield enhancement, and production optimisation. Practical knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean, and DMAIC methodologies. Familiarity with PLC, SCADA, Manufacturing Control Systems, and ERP systems. Experience working in a regulated industry such as medical devices, pharma, or food production. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manipulate and analyse data to identify opportunities for improvement. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent relevant experience). Desirable Skills: Experience in project management methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, or SCRUM. Proficiency in MS Office, Minitab, and other project management tools. Familiarity with statistical process control and conducting design of experiments (DoE). Health and safety awareness and understanding of safe working practices in a manufacturing environment.
