You must be a Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner to apply for this role and have a vast amount of theatre experience to support staff in developing their advanced skills which are required to provide effective nursing care. As part of the Clinical educator team, you will help and support the corporate delivery of education and act as a role model within Newcastle hospitals. The ideal candidate must be able to build relationships with staff at all stages of their career to support them with the development of skills and competencies is essential. You are required to have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and will need to be a highly motivated, committed practitioner who is passionate about delivering high quality education and guidance. You will provide expert assistance, support and exercise accountability as set out in the NMC/ HCPC Code of Professional Conduct. Main duties of the job
This is a permanent full-time post, however candidates would be considered for a 12 month secondment. If a secondment, you will need to have agreement from your manager to undertake on secondment basis before applying.
* The successful applicant will support and deliver initial and ongoing education, training and CPD within the department to specialist teams. The role will support managers within the department to provide and enable staff development, creating a workforce with specialist skills and knowledge.
* The post holder will be required to work with staff to identify learning needs and support opportunities and training to meet those needs this will include Trust statutory and mandatory training compliance and clinical competency assessment.
* They will also support the Trust departmental governance and patient safety agenda delivering training to maintain high standards and quality of service.
* The post holder will be required to deliver programmes of study and work collaboratively with educators from the all theatres suites. In addition, the successful candidate will actively contribute to the Trust's corporate agenda working alongside the Trust Practice Development team contributing to the development of nursing practice Trust wide

The successful candidate will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, being able to demonstrate the ability to work independently and part of a team. Job Purpose
* The primary purpose of this role is to develop and deliver on-going education, training and support for all members of the MDT.
* Identify all opportunities for themselves and others where learning can take place, both formally and informally.
* Undertake a Training Needs Analysis and maintain registers of training as appropriate, support departmental sisters/charge nurses to ensure mandatory training is compliant with Trust standard.
* May be required to undertake a Team Lead role.
* Deputise for the Matron where appropriate.
* Contribute to the delivery of the Corporate agenda for up to 40% of the time
* Contribute to corporate training and education. May lead practice development initiatives.
* Develop appropriate competency based clinical skills education and develop relevant competency assessment documents, for approval by the appropriate Trust Committee e.g. Clinical Role Development Group or Nursing and Midwifery Practice Development Group.
* Support the Trust Governance and Patient Safety agenda through active participation in the work of the Nursing and Midwifery Practice Development Group.
* To maintain the delivery and quality of services provided within the care environment including the care delivered, setting of theatre practitioner standards and leadership of the team working clinically with staff where needed to help the acquisition of skills, knowledge and competence.

* Influence change and development of practice, utilising the most recent evidence base.
* Contribute to and complete performance review of theatre personnel

* Participate and chair interviewing panels in the appointment of staff, and be aware of legislation and local personnel policies affecting the employment of staff.
* Implementation of evaluation audits to measure the impact of educationalprogrammes and disseminate the results.
* To deliver a competency based induction for new staff and students to thedirectorate.
* Facilitate the provision of Clinical Supervision ensuring this is a support mechanism available to all staff and which is embedded in practice.
* Identify areas of good practice and provide opportunities for staff to share this across the organisation.
