The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity to work as part of the newly formed New Site Opening and Infrastructure team as within Running Great Restaurant Technology, the Infrastructure and Network Consultant will be responsible for improving the value of IT infrastructure and network services across the UK&I business, focusing on addressing systematic issues within our services. The work will cover technical, procedural, and behavioural aspects, working across multiple partners, functions and markets to achieve these goals.
What will my accountabilities be?
1. Provide a deep level of technical knowledge, responsible for technical solutions to provide business value.
2. Provide technical direction on forward network strategies and best practice.
3. Ownership of infrastructure and/or network production problems, collaborating with technical teams to troubleshoot and provide a resolution
4. Work closely with our global risk and infrastructure teams on UK&I alignment to global strategies
5. Work closely with our UK&I vendors to implement new infrastructure or network solutions
6. Implement continuous improvement projects with our partners to support the infrastructure of new site openings (e.g. Starlink network capability, 5G infrastructure)
7. Custodian of day-to-day network control and compliance processes.
8. Drive P1 and P2 incident reduction through increased control and compliance
9. Use automation to reduce the probability and/or impact of problem recurrence (AIOps)
10. Identify, evaluate, and recommend service monitoring tools and diagnostic techniques to improve system observability
11. Drive and mature Command Centre activities to increase value to the business
12. Work closely with Technology Cyber Security to support overall market technology risk reduction
13. Perform and deliver consistently in a continuously changing, complex environment
14. Produce reports and presentations to drive greater MI analytics, supporting improved decision making across the Technology team
15. McDonald's Network point of contact for all appropriate vendors on infrastructure queries
16. Train, coach and mentor Site Reliability Engineers ensuring that the team have maintained and relevant career development plans
17. Support the NSO and Infrastructure Manager on developing forward plans, strategies and roadmaps

Who are my customers?
The role will report to the Technology NSO and Infrastructure Manager and will have close working relationships with IT partners including: VM02, Span, Acrom, Cap Gemini, Sopra Steria and Vista, whilst collaboratively working with all Technology teams, RSG, Operations and Field Teams, the UK & ROI Restaurants and Franchisees.

What background do I need to have?
The right candidate will have the following background
18. Hands-on experience in similar infrastructure or network roles
19. Proven experience in Cisco/Networking
20. Proven experience of SD-WAN
21. Appropriate network qualifications based on experience levels
22. Experience of working with multiple vendors who focus on infrastructure services (critical)
23. Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g. Splunk, Cloudwatch, NewRelic, ELK, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry).
24. Experience with configuration management systems (e.g. Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Salt, Terraform).
25. Experience working with continuous integration/continuous deployment tools (e.g. Git, Teamcity, Jenkin, Artifactory).
26. Experienced in Continual Service Improvement (CSI) process and application.
27. Build a feedback-rich environment that inspires and models the exchange of feedback.
28. Strong communication skills, a curious mind set, is confident and can work independently.
29. Strong customer centric orientation
30. Preferable to have worked within a franchised organisation (desirable, not mandatory)
31. Experience of people management (preferable, not mandatory)
32. Pragmatic, thoughtful and customer focused.
33. Work with energy and passion and inspire the same in others, focused on own and the team’s development.
34. ITIL Problem Management qualification desirable and strong analytical skills (preferable, not mandatory)
35. Proven stakeholder management skills
36. Hospitality or Retail experience desirable
