About Data Literacy Academy:
Data Literacy Academy is dedicated to bridging the data skills gap by empowering enterprises with comprehensive Data Literacy education via our proprietary education platform. We offer change management, live and online classes delivered by industry data leaders, and self-serve learning, enabling organisations to cultivate a data-informed workforce and drive measurable business outcomes.
Purpose of the Role:
As a senior engineer at Data Literacy Academy, you’ll design and build robust, well-tested solutions for the most strategically important opportunities. You’ll also work closely with the CTO to establish, document, and enforce strong engineering practices across the team. This role offers a great opportunity to put your stamp on a small and passionate engineering team, mentor less experienced colleagues, and lay the groundwork for quality, sustainable growth.
This is a perfect position for someone who loves to deliver challenging business and technical solutions, and who’s also enthusiastic about adhering to high quality engineering processes around documentation, testing, and observability.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the engineering team in technical design discussion, ensuring thorough and actionable documentation of decisions.
* Work closely with the CTO, Product function, and business stakeholders to understand, and design solutions to, critical business problems.
* Design, document, and enforce robust and pragmatic processes around testing and code quality, ensuring consistent high-quality output from the team.
* Have oversight of and help shape the technical estate with regard to infrastructure, deployment, observability, and stability.
* Engage with external technical teams to develop integrations with third party authentication and content management systems.
* Mentor less experienced team members on solution design, code quality, and engineering process to create alignment and maximise quality of delivery across the team.
* Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure delivered solutions are built with data quality, observability, and measurability as primary concerns.
What We’re Looking For:
* A software engineer of several years experience with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related discipline.
* Strong, demonstrable experience in a component-based JS framework like React or Vue (we use Vue).
* Ability and willingness to work across the stack where required.
* Enthusiasm for the development toolchain and a knowledge both of industry standard and cutting edge tools.
* A conscientious builder who takes pride in delivering robust, well-engineered solutions.
* A natural problem solver who can consider both the technical detail and wider implications of change.
* A strategic thinker who understands the business context surrounding a technical task, grasps what is valuable to customers, and thrives on the opportunity to deliver it.
* A proactive individual who isn’t put off by the pace and uncertainty of a startup environment, and will actively seek to find how they can contribute most effectively.
* Passion for sleek, quality software. The ability to think from a user point-of-view to deliver an exceptional experience.
* A strong, candid communicator who is willing and able to give constructive feedback, technical and otherwise, to colleagues at all levels of the business.
