About the role Reporting to the Operations Director, The Planning & Resource Manager will be responsible for overseeing the efficient allocation and utilisation of resources across various projects and departments. This role involves strategic planning, resource forecasting, and ensuring that all projects are adequately staffed and equipped to meet operational goals. The Planning & Resource Manager will collaborate closely with department heads and managers to identify resource needs, develop resource plans, and monitor resource usage to optimize productivity and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Resource Allocation: Develop and implement resource allocation plans to ensure optimal use of personnel, equipment, and materials across all projects. Forecasting: Analyse project timelines and workloads to forecast future resource needs and adjust plans accordingly. Scheduling: Create and maintain detailed schedules for resource deployment, ensuring that all projects have the necessary resources at the right times. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and department heads to understand project requirements and address any resource-related issues. Monitoring: Track resource utilisation and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and ensure efficient operations. Reporting: Prepare regular reports on resource usage, availability, and forecasts for senior management. Process Improvement: Identify and implement best practices for resource management to enhance efficiency and productivity. Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any conflicts or issues related to resource allocation and scheduling. Training: Provide guidance and training to team members on resource management processes and tools. Client Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding resource-related matters. Keep clients informed about work activities, progress, and any issues arising in their schemes. Ensure client expectations are managed and met through regular updates and effective communication. Location and working hours Full-time position (37.5 hours per week). Office location: Stuart House, Peterborough (PE1 5DD) with flexibility to work from home as agreed with line manager. Required skills and attributes Preferably experienced and knowledgeable about Heat Networks or experienced in managing residential FM services. Proven experience in leading a team of at least 5 direct reports and managing third-party suppliers. Commercial mind-set with outstanding people and process management skills. Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft tools, and other core IT programs. Familiarity with industry-specific software and technologies, such as resource management tools or energy management systems. Strong analytical abilities to interpret data and make informed decisions. Keen focus on customer satisfaction with the ability to build and maintain positive client relationships. Meticulous attention to detail, exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to correct team mistakes. Effective time management skills with the ability to priortise tasks and meet deadlines efficiently. A creative approach to problem solving and the ability to innovate and implement new ideas.
