Role: Domestic Abuse Outreach Worker (Family Safeguarding)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, including on-call rota (once every 5-6 weeks)
Our client, a specialist Domestic Violence charity based in Hampshire, is looking to recruit a Domestic Abuse Outreach Worker to work collaboratively with families, respecting their rights and following guidance and law.
Synopsis of Duties:
1. Work within the terms of the MARAC, HRDA, and Court Protocols as required.
2. Provide an expert service dedicated to those affected by domestic abuse, including advocacy, information, emotional, and practical support, with a focus on keeping victims and their children safe.
3. Provide one-to-one services to those living in the community, including safety planning and risk assessments.
4. Advocate and support victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
5. Provide parenting and family support.
6. Contribute to promoting victim safety by supporting individuals to construct realistic safety plans, prioritizing the safety of children.
7. Identify and assess the risks and needs of domestic abuse victims using an evidence-based risk identification checklist.
8. Ensure children receive one-to-one services, including safety planning and risk assessments, as well as support to help them cope with their experiences of domestic abuse.
9. Deliver 1:1 support to children instigating domestic violence against their parents and/or refer to appropriate external agencies.
10. Identify the primary perpetrator by assessing perpetrating behaviors and motivating them to engage with longer-term behavior change programs (ADAPT / Caring Dads).
11. Work closely with professionals in the Family Safeguarding Team, police, probation service, mental health services, MARACs, and MAPPA to rapidly escalate increases in risk of harm and ensure a multi-agency plan is in place.
12. Collaboratively work with The Hampton Trust, which delivers Respect Accredited community perpetrator programs.
13. Establish a Caring Dads Group for low-risk men to teach parenting skills and encourage positive parenting, while evaluating and reporting on the group's impact.
Essential Requirements:
1. Understanding and awareness of the needs of individuals of all ages affected by domestic abuse.
2. Knowledge of child protection/safeguarding and the ability to work within national, local, and organizational guidelines.
3. A full UK driving license and use of own vehicle.
