We are a world leader in the design, manufacture and support of radio frequency (RF) technology. Manage and lead teams to develop and implement activities in Engineering to meet goals, quality, and cost objectives.
Creating project plans that will help the organization meet the goals required for new products or designs. Selects, develops, and leads personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the engineering function and develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas.
Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise to enable company & customer objectives to be achieved.
Duties are performed under limited supervision, with a direct report into the Head of Engineering or Site Director.
Directs subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies by providing leadership to the Engineering teams or other group of employees as required, assigning tasks and checking work at frequent intervals to ensure engineering & production goals are met within organization goals of budget, time requirements and high level of quality.
Manage engineering resources to ensure all present and future products and services are of high quality.
Leading professional staff and may supervise semi-skilled employees which include some or all of the following: assemblers, technicians, operators and admin support, providing guidance to employees according to established policies and management guidance.
Ensure that departments within the organization reach goals within budget and a high level of quality.
Determines work schedules and overtime (if applicable) and allocation of resources and equipment. Pursues new ways to improve the efficiency of engineering development/production. Liaise with department supervisors or leads to determine status of assigned projects.
Works to avoid erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results that may cause scrap, rework, use of excessive overtime, and/or delays in schedules.
To perform this job successfully, you must have previous experience in leading and managing a team of diverse engineers in highly technical areas, ideally within the RF/Electronic product design engineering and manufacture.
Experience of working within a systems engineering mindset approach from a product development setting would be of interest, as would experience of working within defence product areas.
Degree/MSc/PhD in Engineering or related fields, ideally within the Electronics arena.
Experience of formal product development and delivery processes withing Engineering manufacturing areas, such as NPI
