An excellent opportunity for a Technical Author has arisen at a special purpose industrial equipment manufacturer. The successful applicant will be working as part of the engineering function and produce high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success and use of the product range. The purpose of the role is the creation of technical documentation that supports the design, manufacture, operation and lifetime maintenance of new and existing product lines.
Technical Author - Responsibilities
1. Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.
2. Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
3. Write easy-to-understand user interface text, potential online help and user guides.
4. Create operation, maintenance, and quality system manuals that meet a variety of industry standards.
5. Analyse existing and potential content, focusing on ensuring clear and easy to understand documents are produced.
Technical Author - Required Experience & Qualifications
1. HNC/HND in an Engineering related subject or demonstrable relevant experience in a similar role where you can evidence equivalent skills.
2. Previous experience creating and illustrating technical documentation such as technical operation and maintenance manuals.
3. Proficiency in documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, or specialized authoring software) and/or wider Microsoft packages.
