We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our Construction Materials Testing team in Doncaster. In this role you'll receive: Starting salary: £24,000 per annum (dependent on age) Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm, occasional overtime required Paid overtime rates 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays Regular training and CPD opportunities What will I be doing as an apprentice? As a Laboratory Testing Technician apprentice you'll be working in a laboratory but not as you know it Be prepared to get stuck in and use your hands as you'll be working on testing a range of construction materials such as concrete, asphalt and soil. You'll ensure materials meet the highest industry standards, while managing equipment and maintaining accurate records. Main duties and responsibilities: Testing soil, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials Producing accurate test results in line with industry standards Maintaining a safe, clean, and organised laboratory Ensuring all equipment is calibrated and in good working order Committing to confidentiality and compliance with company procedures Working within the Red Lab testing facility What could the future look like? The ideal candidate will have: A passion for learning with an inquisitive nature and an analytical mindset You'll be comfortable working in a repetitive role, with strong attention to detail and the ability to focus to secure accurate and high-quality data and results. A responsible and professional approach to working, with an understanding of the importance of health & safety and procedures. You'll have the ability to multi-task and manage multiple demands and deadlines effectively and be confident working under pressure in a fast paced environment You'll be comfortable working both as part of a team and on your own initiative Fantastic communication skills with clients and team members of all levels. Please note, due to the nature of the role, you must be comfortable to perform some heavy lifting and you must live within a 45 minute commute to the site. So how does the apprenticeship work? At Tiro we're obsessed with changing lives through science and technology apprenticeships so we can't wait to have you on board. Over 21 months, you'll devote a minimum of 6 hours of your working week on 'off the job' training. This can include theory training (for example, virtual lessons & online learning), alongside practical training (for example shadowing, mentoring, & time spent writing assignments. Together this will count towards a Level 3 Laboratory Technician apprenticeship. You'll be trained by an expert tutor from Tiro as well as an experienced mentor at CTS who together, will make sure you develop the knowledge, skills, and work habits you'll need to succeed in your career. Being an apprentice is hands-on, so you'll get the chance to learn things you might otherwise not have experienced in a university or college environment. The best part? Eligibility While we never want to hinder your job application process with obstacles, there are some minimum requirements you'll need to meet in order to do an apprenticeship, these are rules set by the UK Government. As a training provider, we are committed to ensuring that our apprenticeship programs deliver significant new knowledge and skills. To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate that the program will provide learning and experiences beyond their current qualifications and professional expertise. If you already hold a Level 3, degree or equivalent higher-level qualification in a closely related field, or possess substantial relevant experience, you may not be eligible for apprenticeship funding, as these programmes are designed for individuals who require upskilling or reskilling in their chosen career pathway. You'll need to be over 16, not in full time education, have lived in the UK for 3 years and have the right to work in the UK.
