Purpose
GAM, established in 1983, has built a reputation for excellence in managing equity, fixed income, multi-asset and alternative investments, and is known for its ability to deliver sophisticated, diversified strategies across global markets. GAM is currently building out a dedicated GAM Alternatives unit to complement GAM's existing investing capabilities, and is in the process of launching several new strategies under the unit.
This new role has been created to predominantly provide Investment Support, Order Input and Portfolio Maintenance across a range of portfolios as well as other related activities.
The role will report to the Investments COO and will have meaningful interaction with the Trading Team, Investment Managers, Investment Controlling Team, Data Management Team and other Investment functions as well as Product and Investment Operations Teams.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Team Lead for the Portfolio Implementation Team
1. Managing the performance of team members throughout the year and formally during the annual performance appraisal process. Develop staff through mentoring, projects and educational opportunities. Operate in a fair and open manner.
2. Ensure desk functions are covered at all times.
3. Maintain a high standard of process and system documentation.
Portfolio Implementation Lead on all projects that require the Team's input or process
1. In conjunction with Investments COO, develop and implement the appropriate infrastructure, procedure and overall framework to achieve the desired outcome and continuously provide a service to the funds.
Work with the Portfolio Implementation team on day-to-day services, including:
1. Portfolio Implementation for Fund of Funds and Multi-Asset teams:
1. Daily implementation of Fund trades to align to the model portfolios.
2. Placing deals for feeder funds and MACs Mandate Portfolios.
2. Exposure Management Implementation (based on standing instructions/parameters):
1. For Private Equity Funds with cash management overlay.
2. For other Funds with Futures strategy overlay.
3. For Commodity Fund.
3. Fund Cash Management (based on standing instructions/parameters):
1. Monitoring Base and non-base Overdrafts and Balances and raising FX orders for cash sweeps and ODs and raising orders for cash investments.
2. Monitoring FX Hedges and raising orders.
3. Shareclass Hedging:
1. Oversight and Monitoring of Currency Manager.
2. Co-ordination between relevant parties (Currency Manager, TA and ManCo for the launch or restructuring of funds with Share Class Hedging).
1. Broker & Platform Management Process:
1. Onboarding and KYC approval process management.
2. New fund set-up coordination.
3. Ad-hoc & KYC requests.
Qualifications & Experience
1. Experience in a similar role (Investment Support, Portfolio Maintenance, Trading or Junior Portfolio Management).
2. Experience with raising orders and monitoring portfolios on mainstream Order Management Systems.
3. Knowledge of Equity, FX and Cash instruments.
4. Comprehensive stakeholder management and communication. Solutions oriented that goes the extra mile to deliver results.
5. Strong technical / IT skills most notably MS Excel. Some programming knowledge / understanding would be an asset.
6. Strong academics with a preference towards Math and / or Accounting. Professional industry qualification an advantage.
7. IMC or previous CF30 accreditation.
