Software Development Manager
The Growth Company’s IT department has a new vacancy for a Software Development Manager who will be Leading, Managing and Building a diverse team of developers delivering cutting edge solutions to support the organisation in reaching its ambitions to be a digitally enabled organisation.

Key Responsibilities
1. Interfacing and building strategic relationships within the organisation to support and grow technical expertise within the development function.
2. Implement Secure Development Policy and best practices to ensure all code produced is delivered with security at its foundation.
3. Facilitate the delivery of the software testing strategy, incorporating testing best practices and automation within the development process.
4. Build supportable applications and services, implementing DevOps practices, monitoring, and reporting capabilities.
5. Define, implement, and mature our development strategy, creating an effective process for how projects and workload is managed throughout all stages of the software development lifecycle.
6. Lead the development team in adopting and building scalable AI assets designed for constructing and operating complex AI use cases. This includes building, packaging, and hosting Large Language Models (LLM).
7. Manage and transform IT capability. Create an aligned, right-size, right-shape and mature team in which business Prioritisation is embedded, and contemporary IT industry standards, security standards and disciplines are adopted and maintained.
8. Ensure that all activities and operations are performed in compliance with legal and statutory obligations (GDPR), including the delivery of fit for purpose and consistent systems, policies and procedures across the Group.
About you
9. Experience leading a technical team to deliver complex software projects.
10. Demonstrable experience in Data & Analytics is also desirable.
11. Excellent leadership, management skills and motivational and team building skills.
12. Ability to understand, demonstrate and apply GC values: Make a positive difference, Stronger together, empower people, Do the right thing, Build on success.
Skills Required
13. Substantial knowledge and hands-on software engineering experience at least two or more of the following - (Java / RPG / C / C++), (SQL), (.Net / Azure / JavaScript), React, python and umbraco.
14. Experience of developing Microsoft Dynamics Platform and the Power Apps Platform.
15. Managing deployment to Microsoft Azure platform and on-prem Windows server infrastructure
16. Experience of managing workload using Azure DevOps and developing best practice in the use of the DevOps platform.
17. Solid understanding of development & engineering methodologies and Agile delivery techniques (CI/CD, TDD, BDD).
18. Current industry, technology, systems, trends and changes applicable to the business environment and operations.
19. The ability to build and lead an effective and engaged team, that operates with high performance. Focus on aligned goals and development plans to drive skills, progression & succession plans, and retention levels.
20. Strong analytical, prioritising, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
21. Effective communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
22. Adept at working in a fast paced, challenging environment while serving the needs of multiple stakeholders.
