For September 2025 until July 2026
Graduate Music Assistants are advanced performers who provide advice and coaching for our exceptional young musicians. To a certain degree, each role can be tailored to individual skills and future aspirations. The ability to assist with other musical disciplines, including piano accompaniment, theory, aural and accompaniment, is also an asset. Applicants should be prepared to work flexible hours, approximately 44 hours per week, term time plus 2 additional weeks (35 weeks per annum).
Applications should include a short video (maximum 5 minutes) of a performance on their first instrument; this can be with or without accompaniment.
Accommodation is available on a first come first served basis. Where this is the case, a charge (currently £400 per month) is made and this is deducted from the monthly salary.
It may be possible to combine the post with a residential post within a boarding house and this can be discussed further at the interview.
For further details, please download an application pack from our website via the Apply button.
Closing date: Thursday 13 February 2025, at 12 noon.
Interviews are scheduled to take place on Wednesday 26 February and Thursday 27 February 2025.
Suitable candidates may be interviewed before the closing date and Wells Cathedral School reserves the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made. Applicants are therefore encouraged to apply early.
Wells Cathedral School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children; applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers, and obtaining an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services certificate. In addition, as part of the shortlisting process we will carry out an online search as part of the School’s due diligence.
All positions within the School are exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. All applicants must therefore declare all previous convictions and cautions, including those which would normally be considered "spent" except those received for an offence committed in the United Kingdom if it has been filtered in accordance with the DBS filtering rules.
