Our client is searching for a skilled and proactive individual to maintain, optimise, and support our MySQL and MariaDB databases. Key Responsibilities:
• Database Administration: Install, configure, and maintain MySQL and MariaDB servers; manage schemas, tables, indexes, and user permissions; implement backups, disaster recovery, and replication strategies.
• SQL Analysis and Optimisation: Write and optimise complex SQL queries and stored procedures; perform database tuning and generate performance reports.
• Database Design: Create and maintain Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERDs); design and review normalised database schemas and data models.
• Support and Troubleshooting: Resolve database issues promptly, perform audits, and collaborate with development teams to ensure database optimisation in cloud or on-premises environments.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed database documentation and prepare regular performance and capacity reports for stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Proven experience in MySQL database administration and analysis
• Expertise in SQL, stored procedures, and query optimisation
• Hands-on experience with MariaDB clusters, replication, and high availability setups
• Proficient in database design, data modelling, and ERD creation
• Familiarity with backup and recovery solutions, security practices, and Linux environments
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Desirable skills:
• Familiarity with other databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, NoSQL, SQL Server, Cassandra, MongoBD)
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience (Desirable)
• Minimum of 2 years in MySQL Database administration and analysis
