Grantham - starting salary £40k + onsite parking + 25 days holiday, excluding public holidays
Monday – Friday with an early (1pm) finish on Fridays.
Our client, an industry leading and well respected precision engineering business, seeks to appoint an experienced purchasing manager as they experience continued growth.
The business is in a unique position to become a key part of the supply chain to the UK’s construction and transport industries, where there is enormous demand and potential for future growth.
As the Purchasing Manager, you will understand engineering and have previous experience working for a manufacturing/engineering business with experience of technical buying.
You will be responsible for managing and controlling the purchase of goods, materials, and services for individual projects throughout the company, coordinating with the Project Managers, Material Controllers, and Manufacturing teams.
You’ll need to be a great negotiator capable of building long-lasting partnerships throughout an engineering supply chain, a strategic thinker capable of putting a procurement strategy into action, and a great communicator to build effective internal and external relationships.
The Purchasing Manager will be based at their Grantham manufacturing site, which boasts cutting-edge engineering and fabrication, ensuring the highest quality standards from start to finish.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in accordance with specified technical, quality, and delivery requirements.
2. Negotiate contracts, improved prices, and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
3. Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers.
4. Interface with other departments and suppliers for all matters related to the procurement of project materials, equipment, and sub-contract services.
5. Provide procurement support for new designs, and when necessary, participate in bid reviews and evaluations.
What we’re looking for:
1. Well-established experience in buying/procurement in engineering/manufacturing.
2. Possess strong knowledge on procuring technical equipment/materials.
3. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, negotiate effectively, and coach other members of the team where appropriate.
4. Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS).
