What you’ll do
As one of our Enforcement Team Leaders, you will lead and direct a highly effective and motivated team of Railway Enforcement Officers who are dedicated to the reduction of crime, anti-social behaviour and fare evasion. You will work in close partnership with other departments and outside agencies, delivering the key objectives of combating ticketless travel, low level crime, disorder, anti-social behaviour and related problems on Southeastern. Additionally, you will supervise operations and taskings as directed by your Railway Enforcement Management Team, ensuring all REO depots comply with all relevant legislation and competencies.
Travelling on our trains and patrolling our stations, you’ll help to deal with anti-social behaviour, crime and fare evasion. Sometimes it means physically stepping in to deescalate a situation. Other times it means seizing evidence and taking reports for minor crimes.
You’ll work with your partners, station teams, train staff, the British Transport Police and other services to resolve incidents and make sure vulnerable passengers get the support they need.
Your home base will be our Margate Station.
Your training
* When you join us, you’ll be enrolled into our Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship.
* You’ll complete a mix of classroom-based and on-the-job learning, covering everything from functional skills to conflict management.
Although it’s always a last resort, sometimes physical intervention is needed to resolve a conflict. Our training will make sure you can do this confidently and safely.
Your shifts
* You will work a varied shift pattern, which includes weekends, bank holidays and nights.
* Shifts can start as early as 6am or finish at 2am.
* Rosters vary but it’s likely you’ll work one week of early shifts followed by three weeks of late shifts.
The experience you’ll need
You don’t need railway experience to do this role. We’re looking for people from all backgrounds to join our team.
All you need is:
* Good decision-making and calmness under pressure
* The skills to evaluate and interpret information and make appropriate decisions
* Previous experience within a Team Leader or Supervisor role.
* The ability to actively monitor direct reports in the working environment and conduct regular 1:1 reviews on a periodic basis to ensure continuous improvement and achievement.
* The ability to ensure staff performance is compliant with required standards of the Railway Safety Accreditation Scheme, legislation, and any other company and role specific standards.
* Experience of developing and implementing coaching plans to improve individuals' output to ensure achievements of desired objectives.
* Experience of conducting interviews and investigations in line with HR procedure.
However, we can only consider you for the role if you:
* live within a 45-minute travel time to the location you’re applying for
* have been a UK resident for three years or more

To help with this, you’ll need to declare any criminal history on your application form. This includes all adult or juvenile arrests, summons, charges, cautions or convicted offences such as traffic-related offences or financial sanctions like bankruptcy or CCJs.
As proud members of the Armed Forces Covenant and Disability Confident Scheme, we will offer you an interview if you apply under these schemes and meet the minimum criteria for the role.
What you’ll get in return
Along with your salary, the rewards you’ll get include:
* a final salary pension
* 28 days annual leave allowance (including bank holidays)
