About the Role: Are you ready to innovate in the field of electronic systems? We are looking for a talented Electronic Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team at our Optical Systems Innovation Hub in St Asaph. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge imaging and sighting systems for Aerospace and Defence applications.
In this role, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of development engineers, product managers, and business development colleagues to create advanced solutions, including laser directed energy weapons and multi-band sighting systems that enhance situational awareness. Your contributions will be vital in driving revenue growth and delivering high-quality products to market.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop electronic solutions for a variety of electro-optical products utilizing FPGA, digital, and analogue electronic hardware and software.
Provide systems engineering input throughout the design process, from concept to manufacture and testing.
Assist with requirements capture, specification definition, and various analyses (sensitivity, reliability).
Manage outputs from sub-contractors and interface effectively with them.
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to perform electronic design, analysis, and testing.
Prepare high-quality presentations and reports for all project phases.
Support the transition from design to production.
Collaborate with Business Development and Engineering teams to identify new opportunities and generate customer solutions.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Essential:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (2:1 or better).
At least 4+ years of relevant experience.
Strong knowledge in digital and analogue signal processing and video processing.
Experience in analogue electronics design and schematic capture/layout.
Ability to create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
Skilled in preparing and delivering presentations to customers and partners.
Familiarity with the complete design lifecycle, from requirements capture to final integration.
Results-oriented with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Positive, flexible approach with a 'can do' attitude.
Desirable:
Experience in firmware development (C, C++, C#, Python is a plus).
Understanding of qualification standards (e.g., IEC, MIL, DEF-STAN).
Knowledge in digital and analogue video processing.
Experience in production test planning for electronics.
