Role Overview: Applied Kilovolts, a High Voltage Power Supply (HVPS) Design and Manufacturing business, is looking to recruit a new Operations Manager to join their team on a permanent basis, based in Goring-by-Sea. The Operations Manager will lead a multi-disciplined team to plan, assemble, test, and deliver High Voltage Power Supplies (HVPS) that meet the highest standards for quality, on-time delivery, and cost-efficiency. In addition to managing daily operations, the Operations Manager will drive transformation initiatives, develop and implement strategies for cost savings through productivity improvements, and ensure excellence in supplier management and overall operations. This position reports directly to the General Manager and is a key role within the Senior Management Team, with overall responsibility for operational activities and a specific focus on continuous improvement of operational productivity. Key performance measures will include on-time delivery, quality and cost-down. Key Responsibilities: Management and co-ordination of all site operations related to product and services including Assembly, Production Engineering, Test, Purchasing, Stores, Despatch and Quality to: Achieve on-time delivery goals. Manage inventory levels in a cost-effective manner. Ensure consistent product quality. Maintain safe working conditions. Drive continuous improvement programmes, champion lean techniques and training, where appropriate. Ensure a highly responsive delivery process for product to customer. Be instrumental in driving key business projects including Purchase Price improvements, Inventory reduction and working capital management. Recruitment, appraisals, and personal development objective planning for direct reports Work in conjunction with Sales and Engineering leads to scope new product capacity planning needs and plant and equipment investment Ensure timely and effective transitioning of new products from product development to production. Manage the SIOP process and take responsibility for meeting monthly, quarterly and annual shipping targets. Report and analyse monthly leading metrics and KPI’s. Ensure best practice and compliancy with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal compliance, environmental policies and general duties of care. Critical Competencies for Success Experience in managing production of electro-mechanical or similar products. Track record in change management and continuous improvement Forward planning skills to anticipate and address any short-, medium- and long-term issues. Organisational, management and leadership skills to supervise, direct and assign work on a strategic and daily basis; monitor progress and performance; develop and mentor. Ability to show initiative – anticipates problems and operational obstacles. Problem solving including use of relevant tools. Excellent IT application, including the use of ERP systems.
