As a Strategic Investing AVP you will be part of the London-based team within Principal Investments, focusing on originating, investing and portfolio, managing investments for Fintech companies. You will need to work with various business units across the bank to understand strategic fit of companies and relevance of their products for the bank and work to undertake due diligence and governance requirements. You will split your time across evaluating new transactions and deals whilst also managing various portfolios and existing transactions. In addition, you will help prepare governance materials on companies under consideration and work to identify the banks strategy across various verticals. The ideal candidate will have a background in valuing companies with some prior experience in IB or research helpful. CFA certification will be advantageous to any application. Desired criteria also includes experience of project management, business analysis and data gathering. Purpose of the role To manage the bank's principal equity investments portfolio, ensuring that it aligns with the bank's principal investment strategy and risk tolerance by the analysis of market conditions, selection of appropriate investments and divestments, and monitoring of the performance of the portfolio. Accountabilities Identification and screening of principal equity investment and divestment opportunities that align with the bank's overall business objectives, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements. Research and due diligence of various investment and divestment opportunities in principal equity investments, to select appropriate transactions for the portfolio, including follow-ons. Execution of transactions and portfolio management of the bank's principal equity investment portfolio, ensuring that it meets the bank's strategic investment objectives and risk tolerance. Analysis of the performance and periodic valuation updates of the principal equity investment portfolio, evaluating its performance against risk indicators and investment strategic objectives, and preparation of regular performance reports for relevant internal stakeholders. Implementation and maintenance of effective risk management processes to identify, measure, monitor, and control risks arising from transacting in principal equity investments.
