Do you want to take up an exciting opportunity to join our team booking operations for patients?!
We are looking for a new Senior Booking Co-ordinator to join our well established team. If you have a calm and empathetic nature, enjoy talking to patients and can work on your own initiative this could be the job for you. You will need to be able to use your negotiating skills with clinicians and patients to ensure that patients receive their treatment within our target times.
This post can be worked flexibly with onsite and home working, once training has been given and is a key role within the Trust. There is always something different to learn and it is a fast-paced role needing attention to detail and a sense of humour! Full support and training is provided. This is a full-time post @ 37.5 hours – our hours are 9-5. Part time hours will also be considered.
Main duties of the job
To provide a full and comprehensive service to the organisation to ensure all elective patients are admitted efficiently for surgery within national guidelines and in accordance with the Trust’s Patient Access Policy. This will require the post holder to effectively make comprehensive decisions regarding waiting list management and ensure that these decisions are effectively communicated to all relevant parties: Consultant Staff, Managers, Theatres and Nursing Staff, maximising the use of Trust resources.
To act on own initiative with an aptitude for problem-solving to ensure capacity is maximised and waiting lists are managed effectively.

* Polite and professional telephone manner and ability to deal with angry, difficult or distressed callers
* Effective decision-making skills to process a range of information (some of it conflicting) and to decide on the most appropriate course of action
* Prioritises own workload to meet deadlines
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience working in a customer/patient focused environment
* Experience dealing with people (customers, patients) over the telephone or in person
* Understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality
* Ability to use computer software to develop operating lists (following formal training)
Qualifications & Training
* Educated to GCSE/O Level or equivalent work experience
