Academics are looking for Music Cover Supervisors for supply opportunities within our partnership Stoke-on-Trent & Newcastle-under-Lyme secondary schools.
Whether this is a long-term contract or more flexible week by week cover work that you are looking for, here at Academics we focus your job search around you and look to provide you with the type of roles that you are looking for. Our opportunities are great as they allow our Cover Supervisors to be flexible with the days that they wish to work and ideally, these roles could lead to more long-term and permanent roles in some of our schools.
Cover Supervisors can be utilised in secondary schools to provide cover for a class when a teacher is not available. They have a subject specialism and they are employed on a flexible and day-to-day basis to ensure that a teacher can have time away from the classroom to carry out other duties (planning, assessment, or training days) or they may also be required to cover lessons for teachers who are away from school due to sickness, self-isolation or for any other absences. A Cover Supervisor is not responsible for planning or assessing a lesson as the original class teacher will set work for students to complete and the Cover Supervisor will manage behaviour and ensure that students remain on task.
The benefits of working as a Music Cover Supervisor in a secondary school include:
* No lesson planning or marking!
* Along with your subject specialism, you will also support a wide variety of subjects across the curriculum!
* Work alongside successful practising teachers to develop your education knowledge further!
* Flexible working – only want to work 3 days one week, but 5 days the next? Not a problem!
As an Academics Music Cover Supervisor, you will:
* Hold a minimum Level 6 Qualification (Bachelor’s Degree, Professional Graduate Certificate, BTEC Advanced Professional Diploma, Degree Apprenticeship, etc…) with a Music or Performing Arts specialism.
* Be familiar with the National Curriculum and the Music programmes of study.
* Have good classroom presence and behaviour management skills.
* Have a positive can do attitude to respond to busy schools.
* Have flexibility between Monday to Friday. Usual working hours are between 8.30am-3.30pm
* Hold a current Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service or to be prepared to apply for a new Enhanced DBS with ourselves (cost applied).
