Due to continued growth, a CNC Lathe Programmer is required for a well-established manufacturing company based in Oldbury. For decades, this business has been extremely successful in the manufacture of steel products globally, with a fantastic in-house machining department for toolmaking and brand new tool creation. The role offers convenient day shift hours, Monday to Friday, a salary of circa £31K basic, overtime, bonuses, and a great benefits package.
Responsibilities of the CNC Lathe Programmer include:
1. Responsible for programming and setting of 2 axis CNC Turning Lathes.
2. Online programming at the machine, working from detailed customer drawings.
3. Setting up tooling, work holding, material, speeds, and feeds.
4. Producing one-off, prototype, and small batch parts from blanks and billets.
5. Carry out in-process inspection using measuring equipment.
6. Occasional manual turning when required.
To be successful in this role, we're looking for the following skills:
1. Ability to write new programmes from scratch on CNC 2 axis turning lathes.
2. Be able to machine parts from start to finish.
3. Sound understanding of materials and modern cutting methods.
4. Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
5. High levels of motivation and a flexible approach in terms of working hours.
6. Work collaboratively with other departments to overcome engineering challenges.
Siemens programming experience is ideal; however, the business is happy to offer training for the right person too.
Working hours: 37hrs a week Monday to Friday, which includes an early finish on Friday afternoon.
