Description The aim of this role is to ensure the successful and smooth running of the Technical Sales function within ArcelorMittal Sheet Piling in the UK and Ireland. The Technical Sales Engineer, Piling & Foundation Solutions will work within a team of professionals who are tasked with maintaining and further developing the use of RPS steel foundation products using their technical understanding and knowledge of the market to influence construction specifiers, to use RPS products in preference to the alternatives. The role will be to assist with increasing the profitable sales of Steel Sheet Piling and Foundation products by being integral part of a team which provides an engineered foundation solution, expert development, and technical support service to the UK construction industry / foundations sector and in so doing identifies and proactively creates attractive sales opportunities for the products of RPS. Continuous product training is also part of the role. The job is based at the offices of ArcelorMittal Commercial UK Ltd in Solihull, UK. Significant amount of UK wide travel is required. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES To work within a small local team of professional colleagues to support their efforts to positively influence construction decision makers to specify products. To assist with developing new, and improve existing, relationships with key customers, organisations and individuals within the construction industry to ensure that RPS continues to be held in high regard by the sector. To assist with ensuring the maintenance of an effective monitoring system for construction projects, with potential RPS product content, and liaise‚ closely with Sales Management to ensure the opportunity for profitable sales is maximised. To assist with ensuring the maintenance of an expert level of Piling and Foundation design and application support to the UK construction sector. To assist with ensuring that RPS interests are looked after in the development of new Piling and Foundation design codes in the UK and Europe. To maintain an in-depth knowledge of RPS competitors (steel and other materials) to identify the threats and opportunities these may present. To assist with the necessary Group lead R&D program requirements, to be carried out by both internal and external research organisations, to counter any threats and take advantage of any opportunities. To assist with implementation of plans for the market introduction of new products, solutions and services that maximise RPS profitable product content. To assist with ensuring that designated responsibilities under the regulations are implemented and applied within area(s) of responsibility. Visit customers and interact with the customer base to build a trusting relationship. Visit key stakeholders and decision makers (investors, architects, designers, fabricators) to promote sheet pile solutions. Participate in seminars, technical conferences through presentations and provide technical knowledge to stakeholders. PROFILE AND EXPERIENCE Engineering degree (MEng) or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a closely associated field. Preferably be a (graduate) member of Institute of Civil Engineers working towards Chartered Status. Post Graduate Geotechnical qualification is desirable. Suitable operational civil engineering site experience in relation to piling, preferably gained in the UK Must have ability to design Piling and Foundation work Proficiency with design software tools such as ReWaRD / WALLAP / AMRetain Must be comfortable working in a small commercial team and a selling environment. Capacity to build and maintain a network, with all stakeholders, to ensure awareness of projects developments Ability to represent RPS on technical / marketing committees in the UK and overseas Capacity to undertake presentations (to CPD level), to a high degree of competence, on a wide range of topics covering technical/marketing and promotional activities, to large audiences of construction professionals English language as mother tongue essential, any further European language would be an advantage (French / German especially).
