Beyond Blood Diagnostics is a fast growing award winning deep-tech start-up focused on leveraging microfluidic technology in combination with semiconductors to monitor vital blood biomarkers critical for cancer patients. Today cancer patients have no visibility on the effectiveness of chemotherapy and with our device they can monitor at home as often as they like their treatment response. This position will play a crucial role in bringing our prototype into patient’s homes and eliminating completely 2 million cancellations every year for the NHS. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing startup backed by some world-leading UK and US deep-tech investors. Full-time permanent position based in central London. Key responsibilities Collaborating in a team to transition from a works-like to a made-like prototype. Designing for usability and DfM. Closely working with mechanical and biomedical engineers on systems level obstacles. Sourcing and working with suppliers and manufacturers. Managing design documentation. Preferred skills and experience We are looking for as many of the following skills as possible but can provide the opportunity to learn any of these skills to talented people who are highly motivated by the challenge of what we are trying to achieve. A minimum of a Master’s degree and preferred PhD in engineering or scientific related field (Preferably Mechanical/Bioengineering/Design Engineering). A minimum of 5 years work experience in design engineering, including DfM & Tolerancing. Experience in the entire process in DfM for diagnostic or medical devices, from prototype to PVT. Highly familiar with several mass-production techniques of microfluidic devices. Demonstrable knowledge of integration of Electrical/Optical Components sensors on-chip. Proficient with COMSOL/ANSYS. Experience with microfluidic chip design and hands-on experience with microfluidic chips surface coating and modification. Experience sourcing and working with suppliers. Excellent understanding of the IP process in DfM. Results oriented with ability to work under pressure. Excellent technical, communication and interpersonal skills.
