The government strategy to reform Children’s Social Care, Stable Homes Built on Love has seen new statutory duties issued to Virtual Schools. As a result, Wakefield Virtual School has become further embedded in the wider services within the Wakefield Families Together (WFT) strategy in order to best advocate for children’s needs.
Due to the increased statutory remit of the role of Virtual Schools in England, Wakefield Virtual School is seeking to increase the capacity of its team with the appointment of a second Deputy Virtual School Head.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced and innovative candidate who is passionate about maximising the educational outcomes for disadvantaged children who have experienced social care during their lives.
We encourage candidates with experience of leadership and management within education or local authority services to apply for this role. The new appointment will bring additional strategic and operational capacity to complement the work of our established Virtual School team and the wider Wakefield education system.
The role:
Develop, implement, and lead on the strategic and operational approaches to:
1. Promoting the education of children who have been previously looked after and children in kinship care arrangements
2. Promoting the attendance and engagement of children with a social worker (CWSW)
Pay scale:
Soulbury Grade 8-11
