Laing O'Rourke has been appointed as construction partner for National Grid's Great Grid Partnership programme, which forms part of a £9bn supply chain framework which will also support infrastructure projects beyond 2030.

The role involves developing and maintaining programmes, project control, accurate reporting, and forecasting. Reporting to the Project Planning Lead, you will be responsible for programme reporting controls and developing plans and programmes for the project.
What will the role look like?
* Provide leadership for the planning and coordination processes.
* Implement and maintain the requirements of the Project Business Plan.
* Ensure that all programmes are compliant with the Project requirements.
* Develop and agree by collaboration a logical sequence of events ensuring that the most economical/advantageous construction strategy is adopted.
* Analyse performance and advise the project team of likely impact and recommend improvements.
* Ensure that the construction strategy and any recommended improvements are communicated.
* Provide leadership, support and training, and contribute to career development.
* Co-ordinate for stakeholders, partners and supply chain all time-related information.
* Represent the project/business with all stakeholders.
* Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as required by the project/business.
* Develop and feedback process improvement.
* Proactive interaction with other departments.
* Develop knowledge of strategic planning and project/programme management systems.
* Understand how to establish and implement project controls systems on a project to comply with the Laing O'Rourke iGMS and can integrate these with the client system requirements.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
* Project/programme controls.
* Desirable substation experience.
* Project management systems and techniques.
* Contract planning.
* Pre-contract planning and work control.
* P6 or Asta Powerproject Planning Software.
Qualifications
* HNC / Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or similar sector-related.
* CIOB Membership.
* Developing relationships with clients' representatives.
* Contribution to pre-contract planning, work winning, and processes.
