A leading materials testing laboratory based in Ledbury is seeking a Lab Operations Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day laboratory services, driving business growth and ensuring technical excellence. This is a key leadership role, focused on managing operations, enhancing quality standards, and expanding external testing revenue.
Laboratory Operations Manager responsibilities:
Business Growth & Revenue:
* Own and drive revenue targets external testing services.
* Identify opportunities to expand external revenue streams.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers.
Laboratory Operations & Quality:
* Take overall responsibility for the laboratory’s technical operations.
* Implement and maintain ISO/IEC 17025 and Nadcap Materials Testing standards.
* Continuously improve services for internal and external customers.
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:
* Lead and manage a diverse technical team.
* Work closely with senior leadership, including the Technical Director, Head of Quality, and Operations Director.
* Engage with accreditation bodies and key industry partners.
Laboratory Operations Manager requirements:
Education & Expertise:
* Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Engineering (preferred).
* Strong background in metals/materials testing.
* Experience in the aerospace or metals production industry is beneficial.
Leadership & Commercial Acumen:
* Proven experience managing a large technical team.
* Ability to balance technical oversight with commercial strategy.
* Strong problem-solving skills, able to provide clear solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Industry & Quality Standards:
* Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 and Nadcap accreditation.
* Understanding of Ni alloys or other major alloy systems is a plus.
