Job description:
We have an opportunity for an Aerodynamics Engineer (Thermal) to join the Team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role you will work within a group of engineers to support the development of the aerodynamic thermal systems of the team’s race cars (brakes, PU, electronics), through the analysis of computational methods and an innovating approach to design and development. What you will be doing:
* Develop aerodynamic cooling solutions for aerothermal requirements (PU, brake, electronics and other cooling requirements), working with senior team members to ensure target performance parameters are achieved.
* Deliver aerodynamic performance to the race car, by analysing CFD and wind tunnel data as well as innovating throughout the design and development process.
* Build a good understanding of the aerodynamic structures and behaviours around the race car.
* Work with management groups to construct a mutually agreed and communicated aerodynamic thermal development plan.
* Suggest, investigate and implement new methods and processes to improve efficiency of aerodynamic ideas generation, design, testing, analysis, and reporting.
* Contribute to collaborative discussions and efforts to improve performance, offering ideas and taking on board feedback from others.
Requirements
* Relevant experience in a similar role within the motorsport industry.
* Experience in aero thermal management of powertrain/brake/electronics/etc.
* A good understanding of numerical methods and fluid dynamics.
* Some knowledge of CFD thermal methods and be able to generate and interpret aerothermal results from analysis and/or experimentation.
* Some experience with 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA).
* Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors.
* Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors.
* Clear and concise communication, verbally and with the use of email.
* Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
