Health, Safety and Compliance Manager - Construction/Operations
Full-time | Monday to Friday | 7:30am - 4:30pm
Are you a commercially savvy Health, Safety and Compliance Manager who thrives on solving problems and shaping scalable solutions? This is a rare opportunity to lead the health, safety and compliance function within a growing, forward-thinking business, where you'll play a key role in risk mitigation and enabling operational growth.
As the first dedicated Health, Safety and Compliance Manager, you'll not only develop and embed best-in-class compliance practices but also work closely with directors and managers to deliver commercial value through intelligent risk management. You'll bring a pragmatic approach, identifying safety challenges and translating them into opportunities to drive process improvement, reduce liability and support business scalability.
In this wide-ranging role, you will:
1. Develop and implement H&S policies and compliance programmes tailored to the business
2. Conduct risk assessments and site inspections, both in-house and on client sites
3. Take ownership of RAMS using HandsHQ, managing client approvals and operative sign-off
4. Lead incident investigations, identify root causes and implement preventative actions
5. Maintain ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 compliance and coordinate UKAS-accredited audits
6. Complete supplier evaluations and client onboarding documentation
7. Manage and evolve the company's training matrix to ensure legal and operational readiness
8. Use tools like Trainual to roll out SOPs and drive scalable, efficient operations
9. Partner with leadership to create commercially sound solutions that align with safety goals
The successful Health, Safety and Compliance Manager will possess:
1. An IOSH qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent desirable)
2. Proven experience in a similar compliance-focused role within construction or subcontracting
3. In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and ISO standards
4. Strong commercial awareness and decision-making ability
5. Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
6. Experience using HandsHQ or similar RAMS software (advantageous)
