An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Systems Accountant based at Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
We are a Future Focused Finance accredited level 2 team, working to achieve level 3.
The key purpose of this role is to provide Finance and IT support to the Finance function and ensure that an up to date, fit for purpose, finance and procurement system is available for use throughout the Trust.
This is a customer facing role in a service department. The role not only supports staff from within the finance department, but stakeholders across the whole organisation.

The successful applicant will lead the management of e-Financials, a fully integrated suite of financial applications and improve the functionality of finance systems ensuring they are maintained and delivering the required outputs. They will also seek opportunities to drive service improvement and analyse and present complex information in understandable language.
The post holder will have direct line responsibility for one member of staff, the assistant systems officer.
Main duties of the job
1. To take a proactive lead in identifying system developments including the evaluation, procurement and development of upgrades to existing and new systems ensuring both value for money and fit for purpose.
2. To manage and be responsible for all computer systems within the Finance Department and in consultation with the IT department, be responsible for their maintenance and development.
3. To keep the Finance function up to date with all IT issues and influence strategic development of existing products to the Trust's advantage.
4. To ensure the reporting requirements of the finance function are met and developed.
5. To support the finance function of the Trust ensuring that financial information is recorded on an accurate and timely basis in accordance with national and professional requirements and standards to support the delivery of corporate objectives.
6. Responsibility for checking the integrity of the Trust's financial data systems.

Job responsibilities
The key purposes of this role are to provide IT and Finance support to the finance function and ensure that an up to date, fit for purpose, finance and procurement system is available for use throughout the Group.
In addition, this role will be required to develop and support system changes throughout the Group, through the capital programme or where there is a direct impact on finance e.g. Third-party solutions such as stock management systems. The post holder will have direct line responsibility for one person, the assistant systems development officer.
Person Specification
Education / Knowledge / Experience
* Educated to degree level
* Good accounting knowledge (NVQ level 5 / AAT / Other professional body)
* 3 Years NHS Financial Services and Systems experience in the NHS or equivalent large organisation
* Demonstrate knowledge and experience of building and using databases, preferably Oracle, SQL and MS Access
* Demonstrate knowledge and experience of reporting tools, preferably Power BI and Business Objects
* An ability to analyse complex financial and performance data and draw appropriate conclusions
* Experience of change management in relation to system and/or process change
* A good communicator with an ability to work effectively with all levels of staff
* In-depth experience of Financial Software, preferably within the NHS
* Detailed knowledge and experience of using non-finance systems including stock management and procurement packages
* Use of software applications such as MS Office solutions, Power Query, Power Automate
