Job Purpose: We seek a passionate and dedicated Animal Management Lecturer to join our team. The successful candidate will support our mission to ensure learners are central to everything we do. You will contribute positively to the learner experience and the individual success of our students. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and manage students in practical settings, including classrooms and the animal care unit. Deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment. Implement improvement strategies to help students fulfil their potential. Participate in curriculum development and the creation of learning materials. Engage in recruitment and marketing activities, student interviews, and community liaison. Provide exceptional customer service to all students and stakeholders. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all products, services, and initiatives. Contribute to the management of learning programmes, including quality assurance and student administration. Teaching Duties: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment. Develop high-quality resources for the programme/subject. Provide timely, accurate, and constructive feedback to students. Manage the classroom environment and teach a range of further education courses. Recruit and select students for relevant programmes and meet enrolment targets. Student/Pastoral Responsibilities: Act as a Progress Tutor for student groups if required. Promote a positive student-centred culture across the college. Ensure effective communication with students and their parents (as appropriate). Safeguard all full-time and/or part-time students and clients. Quality and Administration: Support improvements in teaching and learning. Participate in standardisation and moderation processes. Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date programme/subject records. Contribute to the administration of exam entries and registrations. Marketing Role: Support the promotion of students and recruitment of future students. Participate in promotional activities such as Open Days and Information Events. Contribute to the production of publicity materials for courses and other activities. Professional Development: Update regularly in your specialist area(s) and participate in staff development activities. Participate in regular performance reviews and appraisals. Qualifications and Experience: 5 years of industry experience. Appropriate teaching qualification or substantial industrial experience (or working towards a teaching qualification). Relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification at level 3. Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in a lecturing or training role within the Further and Higher Education sector. Personal Qualities: Customer-centred approach. Professional appearance suitable for a workplace with students and animals. Excellent team-working skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, if required. Commitment to safeguarding all students. Additional Information: The college is prepared to consider applications for a fraction of the hours advertised. Lecturers who do not hold a Certificate in Education will be expected to achieve this qualification within an agreed timescale, funded by the college. 35 bookable days of annual holiday plus eight public holidays and two weeks at Christmas. An enhanced level of disclosure is required for this post. The college has designated smoking areas on site. Employees are expected to wear a uniform if provided.
