The Superintendent Lead Radiographer for PRH, HPC and plain film imaging will be managerially and professionally responsible for the leadership and clinical effectiveness of all the Imaging staff at PRH, HPC and across the plain film services at PRH and RSCH.
The Lead Superintendent Radiographer for PRH, HPC and plain film imaging will be an integral member of the radiology/Imaging management team, and will work closely with the Head of Service, General Manager and Lead Radiographer for Imaging.
The Lead Superintendent Radiographer for PRH, HPC and plain film imaging will be expected to provide effective clinical leadership in conjunction with the Modality Leads and Heads of Department and will be supported with business and operational matters by the radiology/Imaging management Team.
The post holder will ensure the department delivers an exemplary service and experience to patients and members of the public.
The post holder will ensure departmental adherence to Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R) 2017 and Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR) 2017, MRHA MRI safety guidelines and the Trust’s policies, protocols and guidelines.
The post holder will be expected to cover PRH and HPC sites.
Key Responsibilities
1. To ensure effective communications through the dissemination of information to all the staff in the department and to attend such meetings as may be necessary, in order to promote the efficient, effective and harmonious working of the department.
2. To provide clinical leadership to the imaging radiographers, acting as a role model for best practice.
3. To provide senior professional leadership, motivation and supervision to all the Imaging clinical staff at PRH, HPC and across the plain film imaging team across all sites (PRH, HPC and RSCH).
4. To provide support and direct line management to the modality superintendents at PRH and HPC.
5. To lead the fluoroscopy service at PRH/RSCH and to ensure requests are vetted and booked within required timescales.
6. Responsible for managing the annual leave process and sickness procedures for the staff in the department.
7. Act as overall Radiation protection supervisor at PRH and HPC in accordance with the Ionising regulations.
8. To be responsible for staffing strategies in order to reduce vacancies, increase retention, decrease sickness and absence, decrease turnover and promote career development.
